How to link your Pebble, what the watch’s messages mean, and how to reach us.

01Get started

  1. Install Tasks on your iPhone and start the free trial.
  2. Hold the + button and say a list, like “packing for a weekend in the mountains”. Or tap + to type one.
  3. To use your Pebble, install the Tasks watch app from the Pebble app store and link it (below).

Tasks works with Pebble Time 2, Pebble Round 2 and Pebble 2 Duo, and needs an iPhone.

  1. Open Tasks on the watch. The first time, it shows a QR code that leads to this website, in case Tasks isn’t on your iPhone yet.
  2. Press SELECT. The watch shows a 6-character code.
  3. On the iPhone, open Tasks › Settings › Pebble, type the code and tap Link watch.
  4. The watch says it’s linked, and your lists arrive in a few seconds.

Each code works once and lasts 10 minutes. If yours expires, press BACK on the watch and SELECT again for a new one.

03Troubleshooting

What the watch is telling you, and what to do about it.

  • “Phone not connected”
The watch can’t reach your phone.

Keep the phone nearby with Bluetooth on, and make sure the Pebble app is running on it (open it once if you’ve restarted the phone). Then press SELECT on the watch to try again.

  • “Open Pebble on phone”
The Pebble app on your phone isn’t responding.

Open the Pebble app on your iPhone and leave it running in the background, then try again on the watch.

  • “Phone has no internet”
The watch reached your phone, but the phone is offline.

Check Wi‑Fi or mobile data on the iPhone. Items you check off meanwhile are kept on the watch and sent when the connection is back.

  • “Subscribe on your iPhone”
There’s no active subscription or trial on your account.

Open Tasks on the iPhone and start the free trial, subscribe, or use Restore purchases. Then press SELECT on the watch: your lists come back within a couple of minutes.

  • Code didn’t work
Codes last 10 minutes and work once.

On the watch, press BACK and then SELECT to get a fresh code, and type it straight away in Tasks › Settings › Pebble. Letters are not case-sensitive and spaces don’t matter. After too many wrong codes, wait an hour.

  • “Dictation is off”
The Pebble app’s dictation isn’t available.

Turn dictation on in the Pebble app’s settings on your phone, then try again.

  • “Couldn’t hear you” / “Not a list”
Tasks didn’t catch a list in what you said.

Speak after the tone and say the list with its items, like “groceries: milk, eggs and bread”, or describe a plan, like “barbecue for ten on Saturday”.

  • “Daily limit reached”
You’ve made 50 voice requests today.

The limit resets the next day (UTC). You can still type items on the iPhone and check things off on the watch.

  • “Tasks unreachable” / “Something went wrong”
    Our server didn’t answer.

Wait a moment and press SELECT to try again. If it keeps happening, write to us.

  • Lists look out of date
The watch is showing an old copy.

On the watch’s lists, hold SELECT and choose Re-sync. Only lists that are visible on the iPhone’s home screen appear on the watch; archived lists don’t.

On the iPhone, open Tasks › Settings › Pebble and tap Unlink next to the watch. Or, on the watch, hold SELECT on the lists and choose Unlink watch; it then shows a new code so you can link again. To move to a new watch, install Tasks on it and link it with a new code.
